Re-use of gift wrapping materials:
When you receive wrapped gifts, save any re-usable wrapping paper and ribbon in a large bag kept for the purpose.
When you need to wrap presents, get your large bag out and select suitable paper and ribbon. Make tags by cutting out from old greetings cards then making a hole near one corner with a small hole punch, so that the ribbon can be threaded through. Avoid using sticky tape, so that the paper can be used again. It is sometimes easier to use two sections of ribbon, the first to secure the end fold-overs, and the second at right angles to the first. Simple bow knots are sufficient. They increase the likelihood that the ribbon can be used again, and also make the gift much easier for the recipient to unwrap.
